What’s New in Kit: Cycle 6 & 7
5 min read

One of our values at Kit is to work in public.

We strive for transparency, which is why we share information that is typically kept private like our finances and our deliverability. In addition, we also want to lean in and keep you updated on how we are developing our product for you with this cycle product report.

This cycle product report will cover features we’re building and bugs we’re fixing so you know how we’re prioritizing the projects that will impact how you use Kit.

We use the Shape Up Method to create our product development systems. It involves a 2-week cool-down period where we research and plan for the next 6-week work cycle. That means we create in cycles—hence the title of this report.

Closing out 2021 with a bang

The last cycle and a half (6 and 7) was dedicated to improvements that help you create the best experience for your users. After all, our number one value is helping you connect and build deeper relationships with your fans, and we are always looking for ways we can make that better and easier.

Let’s dive right in.

Unsubscribe survey

It’s never a good feeling to see people unsubscribe from your email list, but it’s all par for the course. So, why not turn it into something useful?

We’ve recently released the unsubscribe survey to help you understand why your subscribers are opting out of your emails.

This can give you additional insight into whether you’re attracting your true fans by weeding out subscribers who are not actually interested in your content. It can also inform you on what type of content and how frequently you should be sending emails to your subscribers.

To enable the unsubscribe survey, you just have to toggle on the button under Settings > Emails. All subscribers will see the same survey questions and you’ll find all responses in a new tab under your Subscriber graph.

Your digital tip jar

convertkit tip jar

We’re super excited to release a new way for creators to monetize their audience on Kit. You can now create your very own digital tip jar without the extra third-party tool or relying on a streaming platform.

Whether you’ve just started building your email list or you’ve made 100 sales, our new virtual tip jar feature gives you the opportunity to ask your audience directly for support.

Already getting tips through live streams? Stop losing 30% in platform fees and replace that with your Kit Tips—we take less than 1% after credit card processing fees! You can embed it on your website, include it in your newsletter footers, or add it to your link page. How you monetize is in your hands.

Visual automation templates

A strong way to build deeper connections with your audience is by nurturing them with relevant content. With our new visual automation templates, you can do that with more ease.

We’ve pre-built funnels that are best tailored for specific goals: welcoming new readers, pitching new products, etc. Instead of spending time connecting landing pages with tags and email sequences, all you have to do is write the content that resonates best with your subscribers.

Now, it’s in your hands. We can’t wait to see how you can connect and engage with your subscribers with these new templates at your disposal. Learn more about our new visual automation templates.

Assorted updates and bug fixes

In addition to big feature projects, we also set aside time to make edits and improvements to our product to ensure we continue to increase the quality for you.

Here are other updates and bug fixes we’ve made:

  • Duplicate email templates: To make it easier for you to make updates to your email templates, you can now duplicate them.
  • Visual automation fix: When an entry node is deleted, its child nodes incorrectly become entry nodes, which is confusing and broken. Now, when the entry node is deleted, the corresponding child nodes will be deleted too.

What’s coming next?

Here’s a roadmap of what to expect from our team:

  • Subscriber filter improvements
  • Settings improvements
  • Purchase graph updates
  • Research into supporting more currencies
  • Layout blocks in emails
  • Toolbar design update
  • Subscriber preferences
  • Improved cancellation flows for Commerce subscriptions
  • New payment method: Installments

We hope you enjoyed this new cycle report. We’re excited to keep you in the loop of what we’ve been working on so you can get all the benefits of using Kit as you grow your creative business.
