How to Integrate Wistia & ConvertKit Using Turnstile

Build Your Audience Guest Posts Take Yourself Pro

The video hosting platform Wistia has a great built-in feature for email capture right inside their video player called Turnstile.

This feature integrates with an email service provider like ConvertKit so during any point in the timeline of watching a video you can have an email opt-in form pop up right where the video was playing. Some examples would be before the video starts, a few seconds in after the video teases what's to come, or even at the very end of the video.

In this post I'm going to show you how to connect and integrate ConvertKit with and Wistia's Turnstile feature.

How to Setup the Wistia & ConvertKit Integration

First, log in to both services.

Wistia login screen

Once in ConvertKit, navigate to your account info page and copy your API key.

Next, inside your Wistia account click over to your integrations and under “Email Integrations” click on ConvertKit.

Then just paste in your API key we copied already and click Connect.

How to Customize the Integration for Your Specific Use Case

Now on any of your Wistia videos in the Customize menu you can activate Turnstile with the following options:
* capture names along with email addresses
* let the viewer skip the email form and keep watching the video
* customize the text before or after the opt-in

The final dropdown let's you choose which form the email addresses will come through over on ConvertKit's side. Make sure to do this step or the integration won't work.

For further customization, I'd recommend you make a new form from scratch just for Wistia subscribers. Or to get even more advanced you could have a different form, sequence, and tag for every video you use Turnstile on.

That's it! ConvertKit and Wistia are now connected and ready to rock.
